IFAC Spring Bloom — A Community Grow-Along
This past spring, IFAC launched its first-ever Spring Bloom initiative: a free, community sunflower grow-along. Partnering with Northern Roots Garden Centre, we created 90 customizable mini-greenhouse kits complete with mixed sunflower seeds, cotton balls, and a hand-decorated botanical frame to hang in your window.
Kits were available for free pickup on June 1st, and what started as a quiet launch grew quickly once we brought kits to Northern Roots Garden Centre, they were gone almost immediately. In total, 90 kits made their way into the hands and windowsills of community members across Iroquois Falls.
Our intern documented the first two weeks of growth day by day on social media, and the updates have continued since. We would love to see your sunflowers too! Share your photos and tag us using #IFACSPRINGBLOOM.
A huge thank you to Bill Allen, whose generous $100 donation made this event possible. We brought him a kit and he loved it so much he has already committed to donating again next year. Northern Roots Garden Centre has also pledged their support for the 2027 season.
Spring Bloom is coming back next year, and we hope even more of you will grow along with us.
Canada Day Handmade Basket Raffle
This Canada Day, IFAC set up at Anson Park's Day in the Park with something a little special: a handmade gift basket valued at roughly $350, filled with works from local artists and put up for raffle.
Tickets went on sale May 15th and were available through the pool desk at the arena, at our booth at Anson Park on July 1st, and through our intern and board member Fran, who helped sell throughout the campaign. A portion of the proceeds went directly to the Community Choir, our partner on the event.
In total, 195 of 500 tickets were sold, raising roughly $380 in sales— with the proceeds going to the Community Choir and the remainder covering the lottery licence.
